Very interesting! Do you think part of her independence from Lord Stanley might have been to avoid further muddying the succession argument?
It’s certainly possible. I have heard claims that Edward IV only agreed to their marriage on the condition that it was childless – he didn’t want another potential Lancastrian heir. However, I think that is unlikely.
